Q&A with Anna Batsakes, NBC-HWC – Graduate of the Duke Health & Well-Being Coach Training

August 7, 2023

In May 2022, Anna Batsakes, NBC-HWC, who lives in Chapel Hill, NC, completed the Duke Health & Well-Being Coach Training. Anna shared her program experience and the multiple benefits of pursuing a Health & Well-Being coach certification. Anna, now a Health Coach and Health Education Specialist at Live For Live, Employee Health & Wellness at Duke Health, feels she expanded her professional network, was supported unexpectedly by the program instructors, and saw how new professional opportunities opened up.

This program is exactly what I needed to support my clients more fully with their health and well-being.

What motivated you to apply and register for the Health & Well-Being Coach Training?

As a mindfulness and movement instructor for over 25 years, I recognized the connection between mind/body awareness and behavior change. I wanted to help my clients maximize their motivation and further empower them as they developed a deeper connection to their health. This program is exactly what I needed to support my clients more fully with their health and well-being.

Describe your experience in the program.

The Duke Health and Well-Being Program provided me with an excellent education but, most importantly, a lot of practice with one-on-one coaching. I worked through coaching challenges with coach training assistants whose mentorship was invaluable. I cannot recommend the Duke program enough! The curriculum was well organized and impactful, and the teaching staff was supportive in ways I would never expect from an online program. I also made many friendships through the program, and we keep in touch today!

How did the program help you grow professionally?

This program prepared me to become a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, opening me to several professional positions, including my current Health Coach & Educator role at Duke University. I also continue my private practice and support my clients with mind/body instruction and health and well-being coaching.

“This program empowered my launch into the health coaching world by helping me feel knowledgeable, confident, and aligned with Duke Program’s integrity and recognition.”

What would you tell others considering applying to the program?

The Duke Professional Health and Well-Being Program was just that! It was professional, well-organized, and fully prepared me for a health and wellness coaching career. I became fluent in a well-researched, well-respected coaching process and developed a deep awareness of myself and my coaching style. The business portion of the program helped me set up practice and articulate my offering in a somewhat crowded health coaching landscape. This program empowered my launch into the health coaching world by helping me feel knowledgeable, confident, and aligned with Duke Program’s integrity and recognition.
